Wanderers Athletic 57

Wanderers Scorers

Tries: Gareth Reid, Ryan Davies, Rob Weston, Rhys Iles, Phil Pariyo, Cameron Atkins (2), Asanji Mofor(2)

Cons: Cameron Atkins (6)

An Historic day after 7 seasons in the wilderness the Wanderers Athletic took the field against St Albans RFC.

Manager Haval Ibrahim commented “We started with a bang with the front row to the fore from the off. The veteran Rob Weston and captain Gareth Reid were a fine example to the younger players. There is massive potential in some of the new talent on show and the “Massiv” potential in the pensioner with ginger hair off the field!”

On a grey but dry day the Wanderers set their stall out early. Big carries from James Pollard and Asanji Mofor set the tone as the “Buns” struggled to handle the physical visitors. Both forwards and backs handled superbly setting up tries from deep and the scoreboard ticked merrily along. Some old Wanderers faces returning to the club in the form of Phil Pariyo and Ryan Davies got their names on the scoresheet as the home side had no answer the quality of the Wanderers play. Cameron Atkins created several opportunities hitting the offensive line with ball in hand and he rounded off the day with two tries and 6 conversions and hooker Sam Reed put in an old round solid performance. All in all, a great start to a new era of development rugby in the Wanderers

Man of the match: Asanji Mofor
