More Sad news

Following on from the sad news that Billy James has passed away the Wanderers are sad to announce more bad news.

You may have heard about the Royal Navy Pilot killed in a crash the other day. Lt Rhodri Leyshon was an ex junior member of the Wanderers playing first in the under 13s and 14s before going on to play a season with our successful Youth team.

Youth team Manager of the time Chris Dowell Bennett commented “Rhodri was a lovely lad, touring with us in Ireland, He was a pleasure to coach and manage.”

The Wanderers also heard the sad news that Sydney “Syd” Thomas has also passed away.  Another ex-serviceman Syd was coach, manager, mentor and helper with our youth team and development Squad.

Ex Captain Haval Ibrahim commented: “ A wonderfully generous and lovely man. He never seemed to age in all the time with us”

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of both at this very sad time.
