The new team will be headed up by Paul Matthews as Head Coach.
“Paul has a wealth of experience at Premiership level having been involved as a player and captain at Pontypridd RFC before turning his talents to coaching. He has also previously been involved with the Blues age grade set up.” Commented Tony Murphy chair of the rugby committee. “We are really pleased and enthusiastic at having secured Paul’s services.
His assistant coach in the team will be Lee Highgate. Lee needs no introduction to the Wanderers faithful having been a player since his junior days rising to Captain in season 2014-15. Lee has been cutting his teeth away from the club as a head coach, and now returns to the coaching staff.
Charlie McCloy will continue his work as the Strength and Conditioning coach, a role he took up this season.
The club will be cemented together once again by our team manager Mark Gould.
The club are indebted to Andrew “Rhino” Roberts for his efforts in a near impossible job when thrown into the role halfway through a season, who will now depart. We would like to thank him for his efforts and hard work and wish him all the best in whatever role he takes next.
Club Chairman Brian Patterson added “We believe we have put together a great team and the prospects for our young squad can only be positive. There is undoubted talent here at the Wanderers and we believe that Paul’s team will bring the very best out of what we have”
The team have already been busy working behind the scenes with player retention, and recruitment, whilst also planning our pre-season schedule. More announcements will be made soon.
