Wanderers lose true stalwart

The club sadly announces the passing of one of its stalwarts Allan Brown.

Allan was a clubman for many years probably best remembered for “being on tour”. Allan was massively involved with the Wanderers 3rds for many years being described in the 1994 Portugal tour programme as the 3rds ‘Ayatollah figure’ and leader of the 3rd team ‘Mafia’. He was a wonderful organiser always commenting “the best committee is a committee of one!” A natural leader and generous man always smartly dressed even down to the Superman costume he wore at the fancy dress night on the Centenary tour.  He was also described, in the Malaysian tour programme of 2000, as “the spiritual leader of the bowls club” (the bowls club being those older members of the committee who sat at the front of the tour bus). He will be sadly missed by the club and our condolences go out to his family at this difficult time.

Details of the funeral will follow
