Sad news
The club has been informed that Matthew Stork passed away the other day after an heart attack at the age of 58. Matthew “Storky” was an extremely fast wing who was a star in the successful Youth team of the late 70s. He went straight into the first XV only to see his rugby cut cruelly short with an injury at the age of 20.
Wanderers 7s squad
Not blessed with much on his slender frame on more than one occasion he was found on the wing in a near state of hypothermia on particularly cold winters days. This may have been caused (as some have cruelly pointed out) by being outside the likes of Eamon Holland and Nick Ward who were prone to avoiding passing if they possibly could.
He was a huge star in the Wanderers 7s side of that time where his pace was difficult to match
He will be sadly missed and our condolences go out to Matthews family at this sad time
We have also been informed that Gerald Morgan, Brother to late Vice Chairman Keith Morgan passed away this week. Gerald was well known around the district as a referee. He played for Fairwater for many years and was well respected throughout Cardiff & District Rugby.
Our condolences go out to the extended Morgan family at this sad time
Details of the funerals will be posted in due course.
