Local derby Kicks off 125th Year celebrations

The Wanderers kick off their 125th season with a tough home encounter against St Josephs RFC.

“Pre season has gone well but no amount of prep can fully replicate the match day experience” commented manager John Lyons.

“We lost to the “Joes” at this juncture last season and this Saturday there is no way that we will underestimate the task ahead” added Martyn Fowler.

The Wanderers first selection sees the majority of the successful Silver ball and Mallett cup sides returning to action. Anthony Cox, who made a debut last season after turning 18, gets a deserved start and Rob Lewis who starts at prop will no doubt have big sides keeping an eye on his progress this season. Behind the scrum the abundance of youth continues all backed up by the experience of James Loxton at full back. New faces Ross Pritchard and Daniel Schwartz get a place in the squad for the first time.
