Wanderers announce sad passing of John Lyons
On Thursday It was with great sadness that the Wanderers heard of the fatal accident that took the life of Ex Chairman and club stalwart John Lyons.
A local lad educated at Mostyn High School, affectionally known as “Aldo” John found his way in the automotive industry. He seemed at his happiest when immersed in engine parts, around his family, or when out on his bike.
At the Wanderers he would don the boots to play whenever asked, run the line, carry the sponge and was one time Team Manager. He rose to the position of Chairman a supreme organiser and was always on hand to lend an ear and give advice to those who needed it and as ZZtop would put it “A Sharp dressed man”
“Every team has that one player who, when the chips are down and the opposition have scored again, rises above the rest and rallies those around him to go again. That was John. No matter what adversity he faced (and those who knew him, knew there were many) he always got up and went again. With a smile on his face and a “Hey Ho” he would carry those around him forward.
John leaves wife Mel, children Sarah and Paul and grandchildren Evie, Ralphie and Jacob and the club’s condolences and thoughts of many go out to them at this difficult time.
He will be very sadly missed.
