Glamorgan Wanderers RFC Ltd AGM

On Thursday 29th September the Wanderers held their AGM.

The President Mr Keith  Thomas took charge of the meeting which was well attended by full members.

After receiving apologies and accepting the minutes of last years AGM the meeting held a moment of silence to reflect on all the members who have sadly passed away over the previous year.

The Chairman Mr Gerry Blake reported on the year for the club as a whole. He made a point of thanking all those that had contributed to the running of the club and aiding its recovery post pandemic. He thanked all the sponsors and members who had donated time and money to put the club on a sound setting going forward.

Tony Murphy reported on the rugby section. He outlined the WRU changes to the Championship for season 23-24. He also reported on the success and growth of the junior/ mini and girls section which had far exceeded our expectation to the point that we hope to start a senior ladies side soon, a ladies U-18 would exist next season and we will have for the first time in a number of years a mens Youth team next season as well.

Rhys Draby then presented the accounts. He reported on the position of the club and the fact that post pandemic we were stable financially and all up to date with obligations to HMRC etc and living within our stated budgets. He also reported that, at present figures for this financial year were up on our set budgets and looking, at this stage, to be in a good place.

The president then proceeded to re-elect the board of directors for the following year:

Treasurer: Mr Rhys Draby
5 Non Executive Directors: Alyn Humphreys, Chris Lewis, Billy James, Bob Jones and David Lloyd

The President then informed the meeting that the Chairman would then formulate his senior management team who would deal with day to day business within the club.

There were two nominations for Vice presidency unanimously elected:

Ms Caroline Ankers

There were also three new life members created:

Mr Keith Thomas
Mr Dick Roberts Thomas
Mr Bob Jones

The meeting concluded and the president thanked all those who attended.
