Wanderers Dinner celebrations
The Wanderers celebrated the return to Rugby after the pandemic with a wonderful afternoon and evening in the Sir Tasker Watkins lounge.
Table settings were provided by Massiv member Phil John who had painted pictures of several of the players present.
The guests were greeted to the bar by the the sound of the steel drums from Duo Flex the sound of Steel which set a summery atmosphere before the guests took their seats.
Before the meal acting Chairman Gerry Blake took a moment of reflection to reflect on those that had passed away since we last got together for an annual dinner.
Heads and tails was won by crowd favourite Anthony (lederhosen) Cox and then everyone tucked into a superb meal provided by “The Welshmans Lunch”
Master of ceremonies Brian Patterson then introduced guest speaker Sean Holley who thoroughly entertained everyone with his Rugby recollections and stories.
He was then followed up by Comedian Lenny Dee who had everyone laughing with a run of jokes often at the expense of some of thoses assembled.
Tony Murphy then took over and ran through the presentations with the unsung heroes and volunteers followed by those players who had earned their 1st XV honours ties.
The presetations were rounded off with:
Supporters player of the year: Cameron Gibbon
Players Player of the Year: Jamie Murray
Player of the year: Alfie llewellyn
The beer then flowed well into the night!
