Wanderers continue to build
“A decent work out again. We are developing a real team environment with no big time wannabees” commented Strength and conditioning coach Marc Devine.
“Still moving in the right direction but plenty of things to work on” added Darren Gibbon.
On a glorious hot afternoon at the Memorial Ground 3 teams had a really good test in the heat. First up Cardiff played St Peters. The newly promoted Division One side put their illustrious opponents under pressure for a long period before the clinical finishing of the Premiership side took its toll. Final Score Cardiff 26 St peters 0.
The Wanderers then entered the fray taking on Cardiff. The Ely side were out of the blocks with a Phil Pariyo try and they followed it with tries from Luke O’Sullivan, Steve Drummond and a second from Pariyo. Paul Short added 3 conversions in the 26-7 scoreline.
The last session saw the Wanderers take on St Peters. The Championship side finished the day well with another sound performance. Plenty of new faces and combinations had a run out and the coaches announced that they were pleased with what they saw. Several players took knocks which will keep the physios busy this week but the Wanderers look forward to Dunvant next week in the final piece of preparation before the Season kicks off at Maesteg Quins.
