Mighty Dev Still Unbeaten
An historic day for the Wanderers saw the reintroduction of senior rugby to our second pitch at the Memorial ground.
DEV SQUAD 18
ST PETERS 9
Older members were left scratching their heads as to when 2 of the senior sides in the club last played at the same time at the ground. It was certainly before the terrace went up in 1987 but was probably some years before that!
As it was the Might Dev had some last-minute readjustment to their squad but were fortunate to call upon ex club captain Haval Ibrahim who donned the blue black and white kit again to ensure a full quota of forwards took the field. He performed as one would expect “bouncing” down the field like a bomb designed by Barnes Wallis on several occasions.
A keenly contested game from both sides saw the decisive score come early in the second half when a neat kick through from Colin Fulthorpe was gathered by young wing Emile Nuh and he raced away to score. Rob Evans added a conversion and also kicked 2 penalties. St Peters responded with 3 penalties of their own. There were some excellent performances from the young Wanderers with fly half Rob Evans controlling the game well and telling contributions from Emile Nuh and Lloyd James in the backs whilst Rhodri Phillips stood out amongst the pack.
Manager Ieuan Davies was unable and incapable of comment having played the 80 minutes but ex-Captain Mr Ibrahim did provide a comment “I was wonderful let’s talk telephone numbers on a contract”
