Wanderers announce exciting new partnership

By Alyn Humphries | 15/02/2017

Glamorgan Wanderers RFC are happy to announce a new community partnership with Cardiff Rugby League- The Blue Dragons.

Cardiff Rugby League is the result of a merger between Cardiff Spartans and Cardiff Demons Rugby League Clubs.

The two Rugby league clubs decided to work together in 2014 following a difficult opening season in which the two teams struggled separately. Pooling their resources and their love of rugby league. There has been a long history of Rugby league in Cardiff and the partnership with Glamorgan Wanderers RFC will mean rugby all year round at the Memorial ground.

Cardiff Rugby League caters for senior players and has an Under 17’s and Under 13’s squad.

Glamorgan Wanderers Chairman of rugby Chris Dowell Bennett commented “When the chance to work with Cardiff Rugby league presented itself we jumped at the chance. We can only see the collaboration benefiting both clubs going forward. Many of our players have played both codes in recent years and we know that several of our Union players will take the opportunity to work with the league players over the coming summer. Also coming on the back of our new link to Cardiff University it can only enhance Rugby in the community."
